ST. CLOUD, Minn. –– The Minnesota Supreme Court will visit St. Cloud in October, giving community members and students a chance to meet the justices and learn more about the state’s court system.

The public is invited to a community dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Atwood Memorial Center at St. Cloud State University.

The dinner will be hosted by St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud Technical & Community College, and St. Cloud Area School District 742.

“A school district, a technical and community college, and a university, together in one room with the state’s highest court. Central Minnesota educates people from kindergarten through graduate school, and this dinner is a chance for the whole community to see that as one shared effort rather than separate ones.” said SCSU President Gregory Tomso,

The dinner will allow community members to sit alongside Minnesota Supreme Court justices in a relaxed setting. Guests will have the chance to ask questions during the short program.

Tickets cost $25 plus tax and fees and include the meal. Tickets must be purchased by 5 p.m. Oct. 6 and will not be sold at the door. You can purchase tickets here.

This dinner is connected with the Supreme Court’s Traveling Oral Arguments program.

The justices will hear oral arguments at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Tech High School auditorium. Afterward, they will have lunch with student representatives and visit classrooms for one-on-one education sessions.

More than 800 students are expected to watch the oral arguments and take part in educational activities about the court system.

The school program is limited to students and faculty at Tech High School, but the public can watch the oral arguments live.

The Traveling Oral Arguments program began in 1995. The Supreme Court visits two Minnesota high schools each year, with one visit taking place in the spring and another in the fall. The St. Cloud visit will be the program’s 59th event.
