A trailer truck carrying blacktop was involved in a two-vehicle crash in New London Township on Wednesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the truck was driving south in the northbound lane of Highway 71 at 122nd Avenue West when it rounded a curve just after 5:30 p.m. A car occupied by three people rounded the curve at the same time. The vehicles attempted to dodge each other by driving into the shoulder but crashed head-on.

The trailer-truck was driven by 45-year-old Cynthia Taylor and contained over 22 tons of blacktop. The car was driven by 50-year-old Linda Hinkemeyer and was also occupied by 3-year-olds Elaina and Ella Hinkemeyer.

All four occupants involved in the crash were taken to Rice Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
