An abandoned building four miles north of St. Joseph was destroyed in a fire.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was sent out to a granary owned by Duane and Ramona Hanauer just before 6 p.m on Thursday. 37-year-old Darian Bartos had reported the fire after he was working in his garage and saw the granary west of his property go up in flames.

When police arrived, the fire was mostly out and the granary was destroyed. Stearns County deputies requested the assistance of the St. Joseph Fire Department to help fight the flames.

The cause of the fire is unknown and currently under investigation.
