A Zimmerman man has been jailed after he crushed another man’s skull during a fight on Saturday.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott says that the assault took place in the 14000 block of 285th Avenue Northwest in Baldwin Township on Friday night. The assault was discovered after relatives of the 20-year-old victim reported that he was in the hospital.

On Saturday, investigators arrested 20-year-old Dyllan Wilhite of Zimmerman. He was booked into Sherburne County Jail on first-degree assault charges.  Investigations show that Wilhite had struck the victim in the head with a weapon during the fight.

The victim was airlifted to the University of Minnesota Medical Center and underwent surgery for a crushed skull and internal bleeding. He is in critical condition.
