A dead body was found on the side of the road Tuesday afternoon in Benton County.

Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett says deputies responded to a report of a dead body found along County Road 75 between Mayhew Lake Road and East St. Germain Street just before 2:30 p.m.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office processed the scene and the victim’s body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s office in Anoka County.

Sheriff Brad Bennett says the victim is a white man and further details such as his name and cause of death will be released after the Midwest Medical Examiner’s office performs an autopsy.

Authorities say nothing was found at the scene to indicate immediate danger to the public. Benton County Road 75 will remained closed while investigators inspect the crime scene.
