Charges were filed Friday in the shooting death of a man found in Sartell.

Stearns County District Court has charged 23-year-old Demetreus Anthony McGinnis with second degree murder for the death of the victim.

According to the complaint, St. Cloud Police were called to the CentraCare Health Plaza Thursday after a call saying a man was shot. He was transferred to the St. Cloud Hospital and died later that evening.

Police said the man had told them he had been shot by a Demetreus at the Sprint store near the Coborn’s in Sartell.

Police found two shell casings in the parking lot behind the Sprint store. McGinnis was taken into custody a short time later.

McGinnis said there had been a struggle in the Sprint parking lot when he heard a gun go off.

McGinnis’ bail is currently set for $2,000,000. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 28.
