A 6-year-old boy was hurt after being struck by a car while trying to catch the school bus early this morning.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says the boy was in the process of crossing the street at his home in the 21000 of County Road 7 in St. Augusta when he was hit by a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville heading northbound. The Bonneville was driven by 60-year-old Margaret Hartnick of St. Augusta.

The boy was taken by ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital for his injuries.

Sanner says the driver of the red car traveling behind the Pontiac, has been located and was contacted by the investigating deputy.

The incident remains under investigation.
