Archived: Pulitzer Prize Winning Drama
The central Minnesota cold may be getting the best of most people, but the St. Cloud State University Department of Theatre’s spring season is heating up with "How I Learned to Drive", premiering Tuesday night.
Written by Paula Vogel, the audience will be guided through a woman’s memory of how she learns the rules of the road, love, and adulthood from behind the wheel. Driving is being used as a metaphor to describe the illegal association between an adult and a child.
According to the SCSU’s Department of Theatre, this drama is not appropriate for all ages, confronting the issues of gender, family and community in sexually abusive situations. After each performance, professionals educated about the context of the production, will be answering the audience’s questions and leading discussions.
"How I Learned to Drive" will take place on the Arena Stage of the Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. from February 25 through March 1, with their final Matinee performance on March 2 at 2:00 p.m.
