Archived: Winter Weather Advisory Updates for Central Minnesota

More snow is falling in Central Minnesota and a winter weather advisory has been issued.  Meteorology Professor Bob Weisman has updated his forecast to predict  between 4 and 8 inches of snow and strong winds for the area.

Weisman says winds of 20-to-30 miles-per-hour and gusts as high as 40 miles-per-hour of blowing snow are expected through the winter weather advisory, which ends Friday at noon.

The snow should continue falling through midnight Thursday. Weisman also warns this afternoon’s and Friday morning’s commutes for St. Cloud will be affected due to the snow along with temperatures dropping back to the single digits.

The southern third of Minnesota, including the Interstate 35 corridor is taking the brunt of the storm, with snowfall reaching 8-to-12 inches and wind gusts up to 55 miles-per-hour. They remain in a steady blizzard warning until noon Friday.
