A Benton County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle just before midnight on Highway 23 for speeding Wednesday and found marijuana, meth and drug paraphernalia inside the car.

According to a Benton County Sheriff’s report, after pulling the vehicle over on Highway 23, three miles west of Foley, the driver 18-year-old Benjamin Bemboom of Foley appeared nervous and showed signs of impairment from drugs or alcohol.

After further investigation the two juvenile boys in the vehicle allegedly had marijuana and drug paraphernalia on them. A Benton County Sheriff’s K-9 team searched the vehicle and found a small pouch of suspected methamphetamine hidden behind interior plastic trim of the vehicle.

Bemboom was arrested for 5th degree possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence. He is currently being held for court in the Benton County Jail.
