Archived: Big Hockey Weekend for the Huskies

Four Huskey hockey games this weekend with live coverage on KVSC 88.1FM.  The St. Cloud State men’s and women’s hockey teams are at the National Hockey Center for games against Colorado College and Ohio State, respectively.

After the men’s team sweapt the University of Alaska-Anchorage in their house last weekend, the Huskies, now ranked 17th in the nation, return home for a pair of games against No. 7 Colorado College.

The Colorado College Tigers are currently league leaders in power-play and special teams net, but St. Cloud is looking to combat this with more aggressive defensive play and another strong showing from freshman goalie, Mike Lee.  The battle of nationally-ranked teams is on KVSC this weekend with games slated for 7:07 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights.

Last weekend, the St. Cloud State women’s hockey team split a two-game series with Minnesota State-Mankato.  The Friday night game was decided in a shootout with Maverick goalie Alli Altmann stopping all three Husky shooters to preserve the 5-4 shootout win.

This week, the women’s team is looking to move up in the rankings as they battle the Ohio State University.  Both teams are in a tie for 5th place with the Huskies looking to use the home crowd to its advantage.  Join Matt Bishop, Joe Clemence and Zack Fisch in live coverage with the puck dropping at 2:07 p.m Friday and 1:07 p.m. Saturday.
