Archived: Celebrating the Impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
KVSC is celebrating the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with special programming. To commemorate his lasting legacy, on Monday, January 19, we will feature African American music legends such as Miles Davis, Etta James, Koko Taylor and Sly and the Family Stone will be featured, along with more recent artists such as The Roots, TV on the Radio and Tracy Chapman.
>At 12:30 p.m. KVSC’s news feature is Martin Luther King Junior’s November 1967 Massey lectures on CBC Radio, titled "Conscience for Change."
>At 4:30 p.m., after the News Edition, KVSC’s will air Peace Talk Radio’s "MLK’s Path to Non-Violence" featuring interviews with his daughter, Yolanda King, and one of his top colleagues, Dr. Dorothy Cotton.
>At 9:00 p.m. Hailing from St. Paul, upcoming rapper Why Khaliq takes over Monday Night Live. Khaliq's music is about exposing the truth in the music industry, dangers of addiction and the search for originality. His recent release, Room 603 was inspired by his freshman year at St. Cloud State University.
