Ehrman Dazzles in Debut as Huskies Sweep Mavericks

by Max Steigauf/Sports Reporter

MANKATO, Minn. – The #13 ranked Huskies entered Saturday’s finale against the Mavericks looking to complete their second straight sweep of the young season, and they would trust freshman Alexis Ehrman in her first collegiate start to get the job done.

For the first time in the season the Huskies would be entrenched in a defensive battle with goals being at a premium. Luckily for St. Cloud, Ehrman was able to keep the game scoreless on multiple occasions with scrums in front of her crease. The young netminder already had 26 saves by the time the game reached the third period.

An early third period power play for the Huskies would finally break the 0-0 deadlock when sophomore Maria Mikaelyan netted the first tally of the game. Five minutes later the cardinal and black would capitalize on another powerplay goal coming off the stick of reigning WCHA Forward of the Week Alice Sauriol to give the Huskies a two-goal lead.

Mikaelyan would net one more goal later in the third to round out the scoring, giving St. Cloud a 3-0 win. The sophomore also assisted on the Sauriol tally, giving her five goals and six points on the weekend.

Alexis Ehrman would stop a total of 33 shots in Saturday’s contest. Her shutout win is the first by a freshman netminder since Emilia Kyrkkö did it on Oct. 5, 2025, versus Mercyhurst.

St. Cloud will be back in action next week in Hamilton, New York to face the #14/15 Colgate Raiders in another ranked matchup.
