The Morrison County Historical Society in Little Falls annual meeting is coming up, and it will focus on “Morrison County Archaeology & the Douglas Birk Collection.”

The program features guest speaker Rob Mann, Associate Professor of Anthropology at St. Cloud State University. He will be discussing his involvement with the Little Elk Heritage Preserve (LEHP) and the Doug Birk collection. LEHP is an archaeological site at the confluence of the Little Elk and Mississippi Rivers. It contains multiple important sites such as a fur trade post, a mission, an Ojibwe chief’s cabin, and a townsite. Noted Archaeologist Douglas Birk initially excavated the site and many others in the county.

The  annual program will take place on Wednesday, September 8 at Bingo Park’s shelter, 109 E 6th Street in Randall. Social hour starts at 6:00 p.m., program at 6:30 p.m.
