St. Cloud State Volleyball relied on strong performances from Becca Gruber and Micah Nier to defeat Bemidji State 3 sets to 1 on Thursday.

 

Gruber, a senior Outside Hitter, notched a career-high 16 kills on a .387 hitting percentage. Nier was equally dominant, posting 11 kills on a .526% clip, 4 blocks, 2 digs, and 2 aces. SCSU (8-2) also received a standout effort from Libero Clara Krenz, as she picked up 18 digs to go with 2 aces.

 

The Huskies dominated the Beavers in the first and third sets, as they hit well over .300 in both sets. SCSU struggled in the second set, totaling a match-high 13 attack errors and eventually dropping the set. The Huskies defense was strong throughout the match, holding BSU to a hitting percentage of .142.

 

Bemidji State (3-6) leaned on Jessica Reega and Maddie Filipiak, as both had 8 kills on hitting percentages above .400. Sami Leach posted 20 set assists and 6 kills.
