Houle’s 9 Kills, Krenz’ Defense Leads Huskies Past Mary in Gritty Match
The St. Cloud State Huskies (8-2, 4-0) receives a career-high 9 kills from true freshman Rachel Hoyle in their gutsy sweep over the U-Mary Marauders (3-9, 0-4) on Friday night, 25-23, 25-18, and 25-20.
SCSU struggled offensively against Mary’s high-flying defense and block all night, but kept grinding to record 70 digs on the night. Junior libero Clara Krenz posted a team-high 24 digs.
Linsey Rachel recorded her fifth double-double of the year with 12 kills and a career-high 20 digs, while Erin Navratil added 9 kills.
The Marauders were led by Katja Berge’s 9 kills and Natalia Cruz’ career mark of 20 digs.
The Huskies return to action on Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. with a match against Minot State. That match can be heard on the KVSC Sports Stream, with Husky Den Pregame at 11:45 a.m.
