-The St. Cloud State men’s basketball team defeated Minnesota State Mankato 75-67 on Saturday afternoon. The win marks head coach Quincy Henderson’s 50th win at SCSU. St. Cloud State Junior Nate Dahl led the game with 18 points and 8 rebounds in the win.
The Mavericks got out to an early 6-0 lead in the game but the Huskies fought back. St. Cloud State got their first lead of the game from an Azaya Washington three-pointer.
Washington’s bucket made the score 12-10 SCSU with 14:36 left in the first half. The Mavericks responded and took a three point lead of their own, but St. Cloud soon tied the game up at 20.
The two teams kept the score up until Wyatt Hawks drained a three pointer to give the Huskies a six point lead. With the help of some strong defense, St. Cloud State took a 35-28 lead in to halftime.
Minnesota State scored the first points in the second half but St. Cloud State’s Nate Dahl followed up by making a three point shot. Dahl took the momentum right back for the Huskies and they didn’t look back.
SCSU pulled out to a five point lead and before long an 8 point lead. St. Cloud State moved on to defeat the Mavericks 75-67.
Next up the Huskies will take on Martin Luther College in an exhibition match on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. You can catch that game live on the KVSC Sports Stream with Carl Goenner on the call.
