St. Cloud State Volleyball (11-8, 7-6) fell in heartbreaking fashion to Upper Iowa (14-7, 7-6) on Friday evening in five sets, 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 25-23, and 13-15. The Huskies outhit the Peacocks .215 to .197, outkilled them 70-59, outaced them 6-4, and outdug them 113-107.

Sophomore setter Maddy Torve had the best game of her career, recording career highs in assists with 57, digs with 17, and kills with 6; while also putting up 2 aces and 2 blocks. Linsey Rachel recorded another double-double with 18 kills and 21 digs plus tying a career-high with 2 aces. Clara Krenz posted 25 digs and 3 assists, while Taylor Olstad put up a career mark of 22 digs. Marah Mulso hit .348 with 9 kills and 5 kills, and Rachel Houle added 9 kills of her own to go with a career-high 16 digs, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 ace. Micah Nier hit .333 with 8 kills and 3 digs.

SCSU did themselves in with an ugly 42 errors throughout the match.

Upper Iowa was led by Anna Winter’s 17 kills on .250 hitting with 2 digs, 1 assist and an ace. Lauren Wombles kicked in a 12-2-33 line (.303) with 5 digs, 4 blocks, and 1 ace, while Kaitlin Niedert added 11 kills and 5 digs. Haley Weepie racked up 32 digs and an ace at the libero spot.

The Huskies return to Halenbeck Hall and the KVSC Sports Stream on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. to take on the Winona State Warriors.
