Devinder M. Malhotra was named provost and vice president for academic affairs at St. Cloud State University and started July 1.

After spending 26 years at the University of Akron where he was an associate dean, Malhotra served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern Maine since 2005.

The provost position at SCSU serves as the institutional leader in the president’s absence and also serves as the academic vice president to the university.
