The Huskies are full of turkey and stuffing from their weekend off and still own the #1 ranking in the country. The RedHawks from Miami (OH) will be hosting the Huskies this weekend Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 in Oxford.

The RedHawks had a tough go last time on the ice as they tied a game and dropped the other to New Hampshire. The first winless weekend for Miami lowered them outside of the top 20. New Hampshire is in the bottom half of the teams in the country to pile on.

The RedHawks are led by seasoned goaltender junior Ryan Larkin. Larkin sports a 1.76 GAA and a .939 save percentage, this ranks fifth in the country. He already has 3 shutouts this season. Larkin can and has won games for this team.

The Huskies need to be aware of this and lock it down on their end of the ice when Miami has chances because one fluke goal could let Miami steal a game here.

The best skater for the RedHawks is senior defenseman Grant Hutton. He has 4 goals and 6 assists on the year and is all of 6’3. He was very impressive in the 1st round series against the Huskies last season and he should be a highly touted free agent after this season.

Freshman Derek Daschke is another threat from the backend. He has 3 goals and 9 assists. He has not played with Hutton recently. The RedHawks have the backend talent to bother the Huskies.

On the forward side, the RedHawks are looking toward Gordie Green and Josh Melnick to carry the load. They each have 6 goals and it mostly drops off from there in the scoring department. The Huskies are deeper and more skilled here than Miami and it is going to be a struggle for this team to stay with the Huskies for 3 periods.

After sitting out the last series freshman Sam Hentges should be ready to go for this one. This move will most likely drop sophomore Easton Brodzinski back down to the forth line.

The Huskies should roll four lines and out work the RedHawks in this one. The defense should hold a focus on the Huskies skaters. If the Huskies shut down Hutton and Daschke they should be able to glide through this one.

The key to victory for Miami is Larkin. If Larkin is on his head all game and plays like the brick wall he can be, the Huskies could be looking at loss number two.

I project a fourth straight sweep for St. Cloud but it might be low scoring for the early stages of both games. The Huskies are second in the nation in goals per games with 4.25 and that should be on full display this weekend.
