Author Peter Gorton Talks About the Greatest Baseball Player You May Have Never Heard Of, Negro League Pitcher John Donaldson, and His History in Minnesota

Summer is the time for baseball all over the country, and in Minnesota that’s no different.  The history of baseball in Minnesota, however, has included one of the greatest players you’ve probably never heard of, John Donaldson, African American pitcher in the Pre-Negro Leagues and Negro Leagues.

In today’s installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack talks with author Peter Gorton about John Donaldson during the very early days of baseball here in Minnesota and how he has established a network for collecting baseball’s lost history.  Gorton will be in St. Cloud on July 29, 2015, for the St. Cloud Rox/Mankato Moondogs game and then a discussion with the Granite City Book Club to follow.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.
