Author Walt Bachman talks about his book

 In this episode of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack visits with author Walt Bachman about his book “Northern Slave, Black Dakota: The Life and Times of Joseph Godfrey.” This book details the life of an escaped slave and his role in the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862 as well as the US Army’s pre-Civil War practice of paying officers to keep slaves. In a cosponsored event by the Stearns History Museum and the SCSU History Department, Walt Bachman gave a presentation on Oct 16, 2013, at SCSU in the Voyageurs Room in the Atwood Memorial Center about his research and findings.
