KVSC’s 50th Birthday Celebration Oral Histories: Muggsy Spanier

Over the past 50 years, KVSC has been the training ground for broadcast journalists throughout Minnesota and the nation, and we’ve also been the playground for musically entranced community volunteers and students. With a little bit of editing (but not too much) these are their stories . . .

Muggsy Spanier came to KVSC in 1983 while looking for some guitar picks and soon became the Jazz Director. He has nothing to do with the local coffee roasting business Muggsy’s Beans nor either of the bands Collective Unconscious or the Shake a Hamster Band.

This program is funded in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grant.
