Minnesota Historical Society: A New Deal for Artists
Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack traveled to
St. Paul to visit the Minnesota Historical Society and their spring and summer 2012 exhibit, 1934 A New Deal for Artists. With parallels to our current Legacy Amendment, the New Deal directly paid artists to produce art for not only the sake of art, but also so that they could actually work and help support their communities as the country struggled to emerge from the Great Depression. The runs through the end of September.
