Sartell Paper Mill Public Art Project Comes to Completion in Watab Park

In this installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts and Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack revisits a group of artists and construction workers as they install the Sartell Paper Mill Public Art Project in Sartell’s Watab Park. Formerly known as the Verso Paper Mill, the Sartell Mill closed its doors after a major explosion on May 29, 2012 that took the life of one employee and required fourteen area fire departments to eventually extinguish.

Today, as the mill has almost completely vanished from the city’s landscape, project head Heidi Jueb and others talk about what this two-year project of memorializing this local economic icon and landmark has meant to them and now to the public into the future.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.
