The St. Cloud State softball team dominated in their home opener sweeping Black Hills State to start the 2017 season 4-0.

The Huskies defense played a solid double header Friday leading to the 5-1 win in Game 1 and the 7-1 win in Game 2. The defense finally slipped up in the 5^th inning of Saturday’s opening matchup as they allowed Black Hills State to score 6 runs in the frame to take their first lead at 6-4. The Huskies offense would quickly answer with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the 5^th. They would hold on for the 7-6 win and pick up a 5-0 victory in Saturday’s second game.

The Huskies will be in action again this weekend as they host the 2017 Kelly Laas Memorial Softball Invitational. The Huskies will play Nebraska-Kearney at 9 and 11 a.m. Friday and UW-Parkside at 7 and 9 a.m. Saturday.
