SCSU Volleyball will travel to California on August 31 looking for a hot start to the 2017 season. The Huskies have 5 matches in San Marcos, then will travel to Houghton, Michigan for the Michigan Tech Keweenaw Classic.

SCSU will then return to Hallenbeck Hall for the home opener at 6:00 p.m. on September 14th to do battle with Bemidji State. The match will begin the daunting task of taking on the NSIC. The conference boasts 7 teams ranked in the Top 25, with 5 of those being in the top 10.

The Huskies enter the season with an extremely young roster, with 6 freshmen and 2 redshirt freshmen compared to just 3 seniors. The team will need to replace setter Marissa Kline, who led the team with 979 assists in 2016. Senior Kayla Crane, Sophomore Lexie Duch, and Freshman Maddy Torve will be competing for court time at the position. Crane brings NSIC experience, along with over 1,300 career assists, as she was a top setter for the University of Sioux Falls from 2014-15. The team will also be looking for new contributors on the attacking side, as kill leaders Macy Weller and Shannon Klink both graduated.

Sophomore Libero Clara Krenz will return to solidify the defense after ranking 7th in the NSIC in digs as a freshman. Senior Nicole Miller also returns after ranking 3rd on the team in digs, as does 2016 team block leader Micah Nier.

The Huskies were 8-21 last season, with a 3-17 mark in NSIC play. All SCSU Volleyball home matches can be found on the KVSC Sports Stream.
