St. Cloud man arrested after shooting and injuring two people

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — A St. Cloud man has been arrested after shooting and injuring two people he lived with.

On November 23 at approximately 4:20 a.m.., St. Cloud Police Department (SCPD) officers were dispatched due to the 800 block of 8th Avenue South in St. Cloud for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that a 44-year-old and a 55-year-old, both residents of St. Cloud, had been injured.

Further investigation revealed the suspect had shot the 44-year-old twice, and then assaulted the 55-year-old who tried to aid the shooting victim.

The 44-year-old was sent to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds, and the 55-year-old was evaluated at the scene for minor injuries.

Officers attempted to confront the suspect, 31-year-old Austin Gerads of St. Cloud, who tried to flee the area; however, he were subsequently arrested.

Officers say that all three parties lived together at the address where the shooting took place, and Gerads is currently being held at the Stearns County Jail pending charges.
