The St. Cloud State softball team opened up conference play against the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs with burst of offense. Jessica Goerger homered in the 1^st inning to put the Huskies on the board. In the 2^nd inning Abby Bunnell drove in a Taylor Thomas run before the Huskies exploded with 4 runs in the 5^th, effectively putting the game out of reach.  Brooke Klontz would score off a Megan Lehnen double in the 7^th to give the Huskies a 7-0 victory in Tuesday’s first game.

Unfortunately, the momentum didn’t carry into the back end of the double header. The Huskies trailed 1-0 heading into the second inning before Taylor Thomas singled to bring Tricia DeBoer home and tie the game. Duluth answered in the bottom of the 4^th when Hannah Schmoll drove in a run and put the Bulldogs back on top 2-1. The Huskies scored their final run in the 6^th inning on a sacrifice fly by Jordin Novak. This tied the score at 2 heading into the bottom of the 7^th inning where Alexis Klass singled to drive in the winning run for the Bulldogs.

With the split, St. Cloud State is now 15-11 on the season and 1-1 inside the NSIC. The Bulldogs sit at 17-8 on the year. The Huskies will next be in action on Saturday against Concordia, St. Paul. First pitch of the double-header from Selke Field is set for 1pm. The Huskies will also host a double-header against Mankato on Sunday at beginning at 1pm.
