Archived: St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Picks Up First Conference Win Vs Duluth on Saturday

The St. Cloud State women’s basketball team notched their first conference (and overall) win of the year last Saturday on the road against the University of Minnesota-Duluth 65-53.

The victory also marked the first time this year that the Huskies had a favorable turnover margin by forcing 14 Bulldogs turnovers and only committing 12 themselves. This may seem minor, but consider the fact that the Huskies were -22 in the turnover column over the course of their first three contests.

The Huskies were led in scoring by NSIC North Player of the Week Chelsea Nooker. Nooker tallied 17 points and hauled in 10 rebounds of the contest. She also dished out 4 assisted, which tied Betsy MacDonald for the team high in that category.

Karissa LeCaptain (12), Betsy MacDonald (11), Lexy Petermann (11), and Andrea Thomas (10) also scored in double figures for the Huskies.

With the win the Huskies are now 1-3 on the year and 1-0 in the NSIC. They return home this weekend to take on Bemidji State on Friday at 6pm and Minnesota-Crookston Saturday at 4 p.m.
