#14 St. Cloud State Baseball Joins UW-Parkside, Missouri S&T for Three-Team Set

#14 St. Cloud State Baseball (3-0, 0-0 NSIC) has joined UW-Parkside (0-3, 0-0 GLIAC) and Missouri S&T (2-2, 0-0 GLVC) this weekend for a three-team series in Joplin, Missouri.

The Huskies found themselves with available games following their cancelation with Missouri Western State over February 15-17, and moved quickly to join the Rangers and Miners.

All four games of the series will be held at Warren Turner Field in Joplin, Missouri, home of the Missouri Southern State University Lions.

SCSU takes on UW-Parkside on Sunday, February 24 at 4:30 p.m. and again on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. The Rangers then face Missouri S&T following the 11:00 game, with the Huskies and the Miners wrapping things up at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Cloud State will be the home team on Sunday, then play as the visitors during Monday’s slate.

St. Cloud State’s last meeting with UW-Parkside came in a two-game series at U.S. Bank Stadium in 2018. The Huskies took both games of the set, with Shannon Ahern picking up the game one win in relief and Kyle Boser firing a complete-game shutout in the finale.

The Huskies haven’t played Missouri S&T since a four-game SCSU sweep in 2014.

UW-Parkside went 6-31 a season ago, and were swept by the University of Indianapolis to open 2019. The Rangers rely on a veteran starting rotation, with seniors Peyton Schneider, Nicholas Rana and Connor Cunningham serving as their top three starters. Each hurler took a loss in the Rangers’ opening series, with hopes to rebound against the Huskies and the Miners.

Missouri S&T posted a 26-26 record in 2018 and split their opening series 2-2 on the road at Spring Hill. Much like Parkside, the Miners have experience at the top of their rotation in Dalton Erger and reigning GLVC Pitcher of the Week Luke Marcheschi. Both arms notched victories against Spring Hill. The Miners’ lineup boasts a strong veteran core coupled with excellent team speed. Senior infielder Cameron Burk has the potential to be a nuisance on the basepaths after swiping 21 bags in 2018, and started off hot by hitting .357 over S&T’s opening weekend.

All three games can be heard on the KVSC Sports Stream, with Husky Den Pregame 30 minutes prior to first pitch.
