St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Splits at Home

02/07/20 – St. Cloud State 58 – Wayne State 79

The St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Team was back at home this past weekend, and was looking to continue their hot stretch.

It wasn’t a strong start for the Huskies as they ended the first quarter down 21-10. SCSU struggled to find any momentum in the first half as they shot 26% from the field. Points in the paint would end up being a major factor for Wayne State, as they totaled 44 points in the paint. The Huskies tried to make a late surge in the fourth quarter by scoring 20 points, but Wayne State was able to hold on to the lead.

Tori Wortz lead SCSU with 15 points and Madelin Dammann added 14 points, thanks to connecting on four three-pointers. The Huskies shot 31% from the field and turned over the ball ten times.

02/08/20 – St. Cloud State 71 – Augustana 67

After snapping their ten game winning streak, SCSU put together a strong performance Saturday afternoon earning a 71-67 victory over Augustana.

It was a stronger start for SCSU, as they shot 41% from the field in the first half. The game turned into a physical defensive battle in the second half and both teams battled foul trouble, combining for 47 fouls. The Huskies took advance of their free throw opportunities, going 23-26 from the stripe.

Nikki Kilboten had a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Madelin Dammann led all scorers for the Huskies as she scored 20 points. SCSU ended the game shooting 40% from the field, while only making four three-pointers in the victory.

Next week, St. Cloud State will play their final two home games of the regular season against Minnesota State – Moorhead and Northern State. The Huskies remain second in the NSIC North division.
