#4 Huskies Blast Four Home Runs, Sweep Sioux Falls 12-1

#4 St. Cloud State (19-3, 7-1 NSIC) crushed four home runs and received 5.0 scoreless innings from Sheldon Miks in a 12-1 win over Sioux Falls (3-18, 1-7 NSIC) to sweep the Cougars on Sunday evening.

Mat Meyer (2-5, 2 R, HR, RBI) and Mitch Mallek (4-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) went back-to-back in the first inning to give SCSU an early 2-0 lead.

Matt Quade (1-3, R, HR, 2 RBI) demolished a two-run blast in the fifth, his first Huskies home run.

The Huskies scored 8 runs in the sixth, keyed by a towering Jordan Joseph (1-4, R, HR, 3 RBI) three-run moonshot to left field.

Miks didn’t need much more run support than that, striking out 7 over his 5.0 shutout frames while scattering three hits and a walk to earn his fifth win.

Caeden Harris (3-4, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBI) exploded for a three-hit game, and Najee Gaskins (2-4, R) chipped in a multi-hit day. Mallek’s four-hit game was his fourth such effort of the season.

St. Cloud State wraps up their road swing with a Wednesday midweek series at Upper Iowa.
