#6/7 Huskies Comeback Falls Short in 10-5 Loss to Mankato

St. Cloud State (13-3, 1-1 NSIC) fell behind early against Minnesota State-Mankato (9-4, 1-1 NSIC) in Monday’s second game of their weekend series on their way to a 10-5 loss.

Minnesota State clubbed a trio of three-run home runs off Huskies starter Sheldon Miks, chasing the All-American in the fourth. Miks’ final line stood at 3.2 innings of 11-hit baseball, surrendering 9 runs and a career-high 8 earned while walking one and striking out 5.

Mavericks righthander Cam Kline fired a complete-game, going 7.0 innings while allowing 5 earned on 8 hits and a walk with a career-high 11 strikeouts. Kline diced up the Huskies with his slider, picking up 26 whiffs on 109 pitches.

Jordan Hart (3-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI), Nick Altermatt (3-4, 2 $, HR, 3 RBI), Carter Elliott (3-4, 2B, RBI), Teddy Petersen (2-5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI) and Tom Imholte (2-4) each posted multi-hit games for the Mavericks.

All five SCSU runs crossed in the sixth, beginning with a two-run Najee Gaskins home run. Lenny Walker doubled in Mat Meyer, then Caeden Harris ripped a two-run pinch-hit single to cap off the scoring.
