Archived: Husky Men’s Hockey Defeats UAH Friday
The St. Cloud State men’s hockey team defeated the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers in their home-opening game at the National Hockey and Event Center. The Huskies torched the Chargers 8-3 on Friday night.
Nic Dowd got the Huskies rolling in game one with a power play goal seven minutes into the first period Friday night. Brooks Bertsch gave SCSU a two goal lead just over two minutes later. Both goals were assisted by senior Drew LeBlanc, and the pair of helpers gave him 100 career points.
"It’s a load off of my shoulders, but really it’s a team accomplishment," LeBlanc said. "I have been blessed with great teammates."
Ethan Prow had a pair of goals to go with an assist in the game and was named first star of the game for his efforts. "It was a great atmosphere tonight with great fans," Sauk Rapids native Prow said of playing at the NHEC for the first time as a Husky.
Cory Thorson also had three points in the game for SCSU with a goal and a pair of assists. In all, 13 Huskies registered points with nine players charting multiple points.
