The SCSU women’s hockey team kicked off the regular season at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center over the weekend. The Huskies hosted the Bobcats of Quinnipiac for a pair of non-conference games.

Friday’s game proved to be a defensive battle until the end, with no score after three periods of play. The game went to overtime and eventually a shoot out to decide a winner, the Bobcats came out ahead in the shootout 3-2. The game is recorded as a tie for both teams.

In game two of the series on Saturday afternoon the Huskies took the lead halfway through the first period thanks to a goal by Vanessa Spataro. SCSU held onto the lead until the third period. The Bobcats were relentless late in the game scoring three unanswered goals to take away the victory. The Huskies fell by a final score of 3-1. The team travels to Ohio this weekend for a conference series with Ohio State.
