SCSU Speaker To Present on Injustice Toward Indigenous People
What do you know about colonial societies and the injustices toward indigenous people–and modern
efforts to reconcile those injustices? If you’d like to learn more, a presentation at St. Cloud State University will outline and answer some of those questions.
Ph.D. student form the University of Victoria, Canada, Sam Grey will discuss “Truth and Reconciliation in Canada” and how it might impact Minnesota. Event organizer, professor Darlene St. Clair, says over the past few decades, settler colonial societies have made plans toward reconciliation regarding historical injustices experienced by indigenous people.
Grey will discuss the efforts at truth and reconciliation in Canada and how this experience compares to and might inform similar efforts here. Her doctoral research interests are political virtue, the politics of emotion, settler colonialism and reparations.
The presentation is Monday, March 11 in the Atwood Memorial Center, Gallery, starting at 10 a.m.
The event is sponsored by the Multicultural Resource Center, All Tribes Council and the ARPAC Community of Practice.
