A fountain at Clemens Gardens in St. Cloud was damaged by someone attempting to steal it.

The St. Cloud Police Department says they were notified of the attempted theft and property damage on January 15. The crimes had occurred sometime in the previous ten days.

The culprit attempted to cut the fountain off its base, but did not succeed. However, they severely damaged the fountain in the process and were able to steal two cast iron ducks and two cast iron geese from a different fountain right off their pedestals. The total damage has been estimated to be over $20,000. 

It is believed that the thief was stealing the items to turn them in for money. The case, however, is still active.
