Archived: New “Ban the Box” Law To Give Felons A Second Chance
A new Minnesota law has given felons a new chance at getting a decent job to turn their lives around. The “Ban the Box” law, which took effect Wednesday, means Felons no longer have to check the box indicating their criminal record.
This does not mean that their record can’t be asked during interviews, or checked through background checks.
The law was made to make sure felons could have a better chance at getting a job rather than the application being rejected because they have a criminal record.
