DULUTH, Minn. (AP) – Police say a college student found unconscious outside a neighbor’s house in Duluth had been outdoors for more than nine hours in subzero temperatures and suffered severe hypothermia.
Authorities say 19-year-old Alyssa Lommel from St. Cloud had been out drinking with friends last Friday night and was dropped off at her house around midnight.
A passer-by found her on the front stoop of the house next door about 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The male driver who dropped Lommel outside her house told police she was walking and talking and didn’t appear extremely intoxicated.
WDIO-TV reports Lommel had the keys to her house, but footprints lead to the house next door.
The police report says Lommel’s hands were three times the normal size when she was found Saturday morning.
Lommel attends University of Minnesota-Duluth.
