Austing and Osterberg’s Awesomeness Annihilates Bemidji State

Stellar starting pitching helped #5 St. Cloud State (29-6, 17-4 NSIC) sweep Bemidji State (5-26, 4-15 NSIC) in Tuesday’s midweek series, 6-0 and 4-2.

Ace Dominic Austing fired his first complete-game shutout of 2019 in game one, striking out 8 while scattering five hits and a walk over 7.0 innings. The righthander drew 17 whiffs on 111 pitches.

Jordan Joseph went 3-4 with an RBI double, Mat Meyer socked a pair of hits and drove in two while Najee Gaskins (2-2, HBP, 2 R, 2B, RBI, SB) and Lenny Walker (2-2, 2 BB, R, RBI, SB) each had productive days at the top of the order in game one.

Sophomore Matt Osterberg delivered the best start of his young collegiate career in the nightcap, dealing a career-best 8.0 shutout innings of four-hit, two-walk baseball. Osterberg struck out 6 and worked at a 72.4% first-pitch strike rate.

Joseph (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI) and Caeden Harris (3-4, 2 R, 2 3B, 2 RBI) rapped three-hit games in support of their southpaw starter.
