Authorities are investigating the death of an infant Saturday morning in Rice.

Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck says at 10:15 a.m. a 33-year-old Rice woman called believing her seven-month-old infant had died. Firefighters and paramedics responded to the house in the 1100 block of 108th Street North West.When they arrived, lifesaving efforts were put in place but the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the child’s death is still under investigation. There is no threat to public safety as a result of the incident.
