The SCSU wrestling squad, ranked #1 in the country, performed well at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open in Ames, Iowa Saturday. The Huskies finished with fourteen top six performances and three runner-up finishes. Junior heavyweight Jake Kahnke improved to seven and one on the season by earning wins over three division one opponents.

The St. Cloud State baseball team named their captains for the upcoming 2012 season. Junior outfielder Brian Hansen, junior pitcher Scott Leiser and seniors Joey Benke and Logan Birr will all lead the Huskies in their 2012 campaign.

SCSU’s womens basketball team lost their season opener 74-35 at South Dakota State Friday night. St. Cloud State senior guard Jordi Gerking led the way for the Huskies with nine points. SCSU is back in action Tuesday night at Jamestown College.

The St. Cloud State Volleyball team ended a seventeen-match losing streak by defeating the University of Mary 3-2 Saturday before dropping the season finale in straight sets to Northern State. The Volleyball team ends the 2011 season with a record of 6-21 overall and 2-17 in the NSIC.
