An Elk River man was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital Wednesday night after crashing his motorcycle.

Stearns County deputies were called to County Road 3 in St. Wendel Township around 8:15 p.m. There they found that 51-year-old David Lee Niemi had crashed a Kawasaki K450 on private property.

Deputies say Neimi was riding with friends on a private moto cross type track when hit he soft dirt and lost control, he was going about 25-30 miles per hour at the time. 

He suffered non-life threatening injuries. The St. Joseph Fire Department assisted at the scene.
