Failed Burglary Ends With Self Inflicted Knife Wounds

A man wielding a machete attempted to rob an apartment in east St. Cloud Monday afternoon.

St. Cloud Assistant Police Chief Jeffrey Oxton says officers were dispatched to an apartment building in the 1800 Block of 15th Avenue Southeast before 5 p.m. to a possible burglary.

They would find 20-year-old Trevor Lee Cluever of Brainerd in the parking lot with multiple self-inflicted knife wounds to the neck and chest. They would then find a 21-year-old female resident with minor injuries.

Cluever had met with the victim in the apartment lobby and would reveal a machete and struck the female in the wrist and shoulder. The altercation would lead to the victim’s apartment where Cluever would begin to cut himself. He then left the apartment and went to the parking lot where officers would find him.

The victim was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Cluever was arrested and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for serious injuries and will then be booked into Sherburne County Jail on charges of 1st degree burglary, Felony Assault, and Domestic Assault.
