Five Teens Caught Inside Locked Benton County Park Building

Authorities are seeking burglary and trespassing charges on five teenagers after they broke into a park building in Watab Township on Saturday.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says a witness reported seeing a few teenagers destroy a window of a locked building at Bend in the River Park before entering. Responding officers found three 17-year-old males, one 16-year-old female, and a 15-year-old female inside the building.

The teens were interviewed, and deputies learned that the group had went to the park to take photographs before breaking into the building to take photos inside.

After the investigation concluded, the teens were released to their parents. However, all five of them could receive burglary and trespassing charges, as the case has been sent to the Benton County Attorney’s Office.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reminds teens that while taking pictures inside empty buildings for social media might be a trend, it’s not only illegal but also potentially dangerous, as the inside of these buildings could be hazardous.
