Flint Brilliant in 5-2 Win over CSP

Blake Flint retired 17 of 18 batters faced to lead #9 St. Cloud State (23-6, 11-4 NSIC) over Concordia-St. Paul (17-14, 8-11 NSIC) by a 5-2 final in game one of Tuesday’s midweek set.

The All-American had a perfect game through 5.1 frames before allowing a single back up the middle to Drew Sannes.

Flint finished with 6.0 scoreless innings to earn his fourth win of the year, allowing just the lone hit while striking out 5 on 76 pitches. The righthander worked at a 77.8% first pitch strike rate, inducing grounders at a 53.8% clip.

SCSU struck first with a three-run second as Dylan Haskamp (1-1, BB, R, RBI) drew a bases-loaded walk, then Najee Gaskins (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI, SB) drove in a pair with a double down the right field line.

Toran Shahidi brought home a run on a ground-ball double play in the third, then Gaskins rapped an RBI single in the fourth to wrap up the scoring.
