Huskies drop First Two Games To Northern State

St. Cloud State came into today winning 12 of their last 14 games and were looking to keep the winning ways going against Northern State. However, that would not be the case.

Game One would see Sheldon Miks take the bump for the Huskies against John Werner.

Northern State would get a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd from an RBI double from Hayden Hall. Northern State would double their lead in the 5th from a fielders choice off the bat of Dakot Stilson.

Both starters would go the distance but it was Northern coming out on top as the Huskies would only manage 6 hits.

Game 2 we would turn into a nail biter as we saw Blake Flint take on Zach Hrvol of Northern.

Stilson stays hot as he hit a solo homerun in the first to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead and Barreneche would increase their lead to 2-0 with an RBI single in the 2nd.

The Huskies then get their first run of the day off and an RBI single from Toran Shahidi.

Sarringer would then score the third run in three in innings for Northern State ending Flint’s day for St. Cloud only managing to go 2 1/3 innings.

Lenny Walker drives in the the second St. Cloud run to make it a 3-2 game in the keeping the Huskies one swing away from tying it up in the 4th.

Northern would then add another in the 7th and it would be a 4-2 going into the ninth.

The Huskies first two batters in the ninth would fail to get on base but they eventually load up the bases and on a passed ball to Mat Meyer, Gaskins would score and St. Cloud was one win away fro potentially winning this game.

Sadly he would come up short and strand the runners as St. Cloud would lose game two 4-3.

The Huskies will look to stave off the sweep on senior day tomorrow at Joe Faber Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
