3/3/19 – WAYNE STATE COLLEGE 77 – ST. CLOUD STATE 76 – FINAL – SIOUX FALLS, SD – NSIC TOURNAMENT

A monster 47-point performance from Gage Davis was not enough as the Huskies 2019 NSIC Tournament run ended Sunday night falling to Wayne State 77-76.

SCSU led early in the first half but could not get hot offensively, finding themselves trailing at the halftime break at 48-39. Gage Davis started hot offensively for the Huskies scoring 21 of the first 39 points in the game for St. Cloud State.

The second half started strong for the Huskies again seeing Gage Davis score seven straight to cut the Wayne State lead to five, but SCSU wouldn’t get any closer until in the final moments of the contest.

In the final minutes of the 2nd half missed free throws hurting the Wayne State gave SCSU opportunities to get back into the game, but ultimately it would not be enough as the Huskies would exit the NSIC Men’s Basketball Conference tournament in the quarterfinal round.

Gage Davis’ 47 points set a NSIC Tournament record for most points scored in a game in a loss to Wayne State.

St. Cloud State finishes the season 21-9 and will await the NCAA Tournament Selection Sunday on March 10th learning whether they will receive a at large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
