Huskies Roll Upper Iowa For NSIC Tournament Victory

SCSU Men’s Basketball earned their spot in the 2nd round of the NSIC Tournament Wednesday night, dominating Upper Iowa 91-72.

On the glass, SCSU out rebounded the Peacocks 33-27 giving UIU no chance to earn a comeback during the game. Along with finishing the game shooting 57%, from start to finish it was a clinic posted by the Huskies playing some of their best basketball so far this season.

Gage Davis was a force for the Huskies, finishing the game with 31 points shooting 20-31 from the field. Sean Smith collected 27 points of his own in the win over Upper Iowa and adding 5 rebounds. Both players led the Huskies to a quick 17-4 run early in the 2nd half sealing the first round NSIC Tournament victory for the first time in program history over Upper Iowa.

SCSU moves on to the 2nd round of the NSIC Tournament and will play Wayne State Sunday night at 8pm in Sioux Falls South Dakota. During the regular season, the Huskies defeated the Wildcats 91-79 on February 8th in their only meeting of the season.
